Would you build this????

Would you purchase a 2013 JCW hardtop auto with 10,000 miles for $25K if the carfax showed it was a lemon buy-back because of the auto paddle shifters on the steering wheel?

Thanks TJ

Perhaps. I'd see what the dealer had to say about the details on "the fix" for the paddle shifter issue. (What are the details?) And of course depending on the other options the JCW has would make a difference to me in the final price.

For the 2013's there were a number of them which didn't come thru with the standard paddle shifters. It was a production line assembly error.

Could be this was just a buy back before the campaign for the paddle shifter kit materialized....owner probably just opted to re-order another MINI, or they found a properly equipped one at another dealer.

Assuming that was the only "issue" and I wanted an auto, I would. You can still shift on the fly with the shift lever, right?

Nope,

I would never build a JCW with an Automatic.

I'm sure the "lemon" issue is more than the missing shifter paddles... Which were installed for free...

I'm sure it has more to do with the crappy stock slush box.

Thanks for the replies

The buy back was because there was a problem with the paddle shifters they had to be repaired 3 times. I have to have an auto as this car is for the wife and she doesn't want to shift.

Bmw buy back Minis bring $5000 less then (MMR) average selling price on Manheim dealer auctions. Very hard to resell and some banks will not finance.
