Hi

My motor emission light is solid yellow the last two Days. Since 3-4 months the car has been slow to startup when running start Engine. Check this clip of Engine issue:


Any idea what it can be? Exhaust pipes are pretty sutty (blackened) also.

I don't know exactly what is going on but try this...put your key in and allow about five seconds before you push the start button. I've heard that this allows time for the high pressure fuel pump to prime thus allowing an easier start. I can't remember where I read that and I don't know if it's true but it's worth a try. Also the soot on the tailpipes is normal. Every newer MINI I've seen does this.

 

The pump should work though when you open your door. Lana always hisses when she's been sitting for a while and I open any door to get in. That is the fuel pump.

And yeah, I wipe my exhaust tips down weekly. That soot drives me nuts.

 

At dealer and they said they changed a temp sensor and this fixed it, apparently a quiet task they do when cars are in on service )) buggers... Not sure that will do it but ok
