Colder Plugs W/ Pulley

I've been running a 15% pulley with the stock plugs for over a year now, with absolutely no problems whatsoever. But I keep reading everywhere that its recommended to go to the JCW plugs. Is there any appreciable difference to be gained from going a step colder? My car RARELY sees redline, and I don't plan on tracking it. Other mods are catback, intake, jcw injectors, and jcw tune.

Thanks.

Yes it is highly recommend for longevity of the engine. The cooler range is to counter the increased boost pressure which increases cylinder temp.

JCW engineers felt it was important enough with their kit only making 13psi of boost, so when we make 15psi it becomes more important.

I don't want to sound like a broken record here, but it will definitely help in the long run, plus it's a fairly cheap mod, with incredible long term outcomes

Its definitely something I will opt for when I need to change my plugs. I was more concerned with whether or not it was something that needed to be done asap.

Speaking of which, how often should spark plugs be changed. Are they more of a wait till its broke type thing or is there a set interval for these cars? I'm at 58k right now and I'm not sure if they have been changed yet.

Like you I ran stock plugs for a year or so before changing them. While I saw no adverse affects from it I upgraded to colder plugs when the time came to replace them. I immediately saw an increase in performance. The car seemed to just run much smoother and pulled noticeably harder. Especially in the upper rpm's. For the $40 bucks I say just do it and have a better running car.

FYI when we get cores back from our custom cylinder head if the core has stock plugs in it 75% of the time we find cracks in the head coming from the spark plug holes

I ended up buying a set (NGK BKR7EQUP). I'm putting my car away until the spring in the next month so I'll probably swap them over when I take the car out next year.

I don't expect an increase in performance, but for the $$ I suppose its cheap insurance.

Question: Do these things come pre gapped? Or will I have to play around with them a bit?

I used the same plugs and did not have to gap them. When you change them out make sure the engine is cold (aluminum block) and make sure to use a torque wrench to seat them properly. Don't want one blowing out on you.
