When is a JCW Countryman truly a JCW?

When is a JCW Countryman truly a JCW?
Everyone,
Curious about something that comes about because of all of the flexibility MINI offers buyers - Chinese menu of things a buyer can pick and choose from.
That being said - From the factory, when does a Countryman get the JCW badging on the front and rear? Only when it's the full-blown JCW? What if you buy the exterior JCW option - Does that get a buyer the badging? I'm assuming the interior JCW options don't get the badging - hopefully that's not an incorrect assumption.
How about the VIN - can you determine if a car has the factory JCW mechanicals through the VIN number of the vehicle?
Trying to understand some of the used JCW Countryman I'm finding, and whether or not they're really JCWs!

I thought the fJCW had a plate with serial number attached to the engine somewhere.
But definitely it has to have the engine and not just the tuning kit or aero kit to be a JCW. IMHO
