My key was acting up for a week or so and finally stopped working to unlock/lock my mini all together. It would also spaz out and spam open my trunk (4-6+ fast clicking sounds) so that if have to use the interior switches to manually unlock and then close it again. I figured i would buy a new battery and it would be fixed right?

Well now it doesn't work

Do I have to reprogram it to work with my mini? Is this something i can do or do i have to shell out some cash for my local dealer to fix it?

You might try that before forking out $100 to the dealer!

 

Had similar issue 5 yrs ago with my 03' (same key as yours ).

MINI Tech had to reprogram BCM, had no explanation as to why / what happened.

 

Thanks for the tip. I tried it but it does not seem to work. The thread you put a link to was tagged as "Not Working" :(

Im guna call my local non dealer mini shop and my local dealer to see if i can get it fixed free or on the cheap. Seems silly to have to spend money on something like this but not having a working remote is worse.
