I'm going to be taking my cooper tomorrow for a smog check. Is the alta intake carb legal? Should I put the stock back on before taking it in for a smog check?

 

Stock - unless it has a CARB sticker. You can check the CARB database online somewhere for the part number but I doubt Alta submitted the part number for the CARB database. If you get a free re-test you can always just go for it and then if they fail you for it change it and go back. My DDM CAI usually passes.

 

The Alta intake is not street legal in CA. Here is a quote from their website, "This product is legal in California only for racing vehicles which may never be used upon a highway". I bought the NM intake solely because it is CARB approved and came with the E.O. sticker...

 

Oh crap! I forgot how to put the stock one back on. Has anyone ever tried smogging with the alta intake installed even thou it states for race only? Hopefully I can rember how to put the stock back on. So I don't have to research. How long should it take for me to put the stock back on?
