JCW Brembo Piston Help...
JCW Brembo Piston Help...
Hey guys,
After a hand full of track days I have notice my Brembo caliper pistons are not holding up so well, same with the boots and seals.
I found a good option for seal replacements
http://www.racingbrake.com/Boots-and...-p/bb-41bs.htm
But struggling to find replacement all metal pistons. It seems that there is a ceramic 'cap' on the end of each piston on the stock caliper, all the heat has cracked and compressed them.
Have any of you guys replaced your pistons with a more durable option?
The 1 series has the same 38mm dia piston, but I need to confirm the piston depth... Has any one measured?
Thanks,
Nate

We have the same problem, it seems to be a common problem with track usage, one of our independent service guys also has the same issue.
I was also wondering if there was a better caliper which is a drop in replacement. I'd be interested in something with differential bores, we get horrible wedge shaped pads after track days. Differential bore pistons is supposed to be the answer to that.

I get some tapper on my front pads but rotate them around and keeps them relatively even. I have noticed some accelerated wear on the right front from the E-Diff doing it's thing.
My last track day this season is mid October. I plan take things apart and see if the 1series pistons will work out.

We're just about to start our season, on the 3rd, another the day after thanksgiving and another in February. We tend to avoid the summer heat. I swap the pads around to even things, but the past event was a long one, only three run groups, so we got a lot of running. My wife's also running and getting fast, so we ran completely through a set of yellow stuff pads. They were completely shot at one end, but almost new at the other.
I'll be interested how your 1 series experiment works out.

Hi Nate,
Just found this thread and was wondering if you found replacement pistons? I'm experiencing this issue now. Had uneven pad wear and dust boots burned off and now see the piston material is crumbling away.
Thanks,
Jim
