n14/n18 extra turbo oil feed pipe insulation

Just to inform fellow NAMers that here in the UK the dealers are selling cheaply (<£5) an extra turbo feed pipe insulation enhancement.

Part no: M11.65.7.634.747 pic attached

The n18 has an extra clip to insulate this pipe at the very top and the new insulation part is enhanced by having some heat proof material riveted to it to wrap around the top 3 or 4" of the pipe.

('m wondering if a better d-i-y fix would be to remove the pipe and wrap exhaust bandage all around it. Anyone done this?)

If you change your oil when you should you won't have to worry about any of this.

nearly 58k miles and I've yet to experience oil feed line issues. I don't even have the heat shield on it...

Staying on OP's topic:

Yes that part is being used here in the US as well. I had it on my JCW but when the turbo had to be replaced I actually lined the feed line with a sleeve of heat shield type material that was included in the turbo replacement from JMTURBOCOOPERS.COM.

Works nicely and since the turbo was off the car it was easy to put this over the feed line.

Well worth fitting the modified shield for extra protection
at a very reasonable price. Im surprised more people are
not interested. It's cheap insurance and BMW Mini thought
it was worth doing, which says a lot.
