New Tires Endorsement

I had a 2002 Mini Cooper S and when it came time to replace the run flat tires, I chose Pirelli Pzero Nero. The tires deadened road noise quite a bit but also made the car very mushy compared to the stock tires. Now I have a 2012 Mini Cooper S and I have already depleted the stock run flat tires. This time I chose 205/55R-16 Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Positions. I would have chosen these in the past due to top reviews but they are always more expensive. Tirerack.com had them on sale for $92 a tire so I went for it. These tires are very close to stock rigidity and didn't change the ride or road noise very much, but handling was still very good. I highly recommend these tires to anyone that wants the stock feel without spending the money for runflats.

be very careful in the wet with those. It's the stock subaru tire and they are garbage in damp conditions.

For the $92 a piece you spent, I'd say they'll do you alright. But for allseasons I have always had great results with the continental pro contact line. The goodyear eagle allseason were also pretty good...

Haven't had an issue and I've been in a big downpour. They were rated well for wet traction and hydroplane resistance.

Disagree. I also changed over to Potenza 960's in 17". Ride is MUCH more supple than the OEM Conti's. And have driven them in Chicago winters, rain, whatever. Never had an issue. Just tracked the car and beat the crap outta the tires so probably pushed my replacement time up. Consequently, I will be purchasing these tires again.

Hmmm... I guess to each their own. I just happen to know of a lot of people over on the subaru boards as well as myself were quite dissatisfied.
