Center Rail on 2011 CM

Hello to All
I have been reading through a lot of threads and can't find anything on my question so I'm asking. I currently have an '09 Base Hardtop and I'm looking at a '11 Countryman S. Can the center rail in the back seat be removed? Or at least modified to remove the portion that interferes with being able to move across the back seat without having to hop over the rail? Some may like it but not me. Would appreciate any suggestions/comments.
Thanks
Tailgunner

Circular saw will do it easily.

In 2011 there was a choice one piece rail or two. We have the two piece. Cutting it would be a good idea but try to track down the end caps first. The one piece made very little sense to us. Hence, we ordered it as a 2 piece. On the 14s it's not even an option. Rear rail has disappeared.

If I buy I will cut it down and round up a couple of end caps. Thanks and a hat tip.

before you cut it.......you do know there is LED lighting in that rail, Right?

Cutting it in half could lead to a bunch of goofy electrical issues. The finicky computer in these cars do not like goofy electrical issues.

Yes, aware of that and appreciate you bringing it up. Will act accordingly when mod is done. Thanks.
