Thinking of this as an approach for my DS car, but haven't come across any pics, regardless of color. (Have seen pics of the Aero grill with body-color trim, though.)

Any images and/or advice on doing this mod would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey guys, I took on this project about 4 months ago. I took the stock chrome trim from the top and ran it thru my bandsaw cutting off all of the clips and ***** that would prevent the grill from laying flat against the black grill. I used a plastic epoxy to bond the parts . As for the bottom I cut out the grill rib and inserted a cutout (bandsaw again) of the mesh areo grill section. It looks better on the lighter color cars. My IB looks like it is missing the grill when you look at it from far away.Lots of cut and fit, cut and fit.

is pretty much as doghouse said,
cut the aero grill out, leave some space, i than file it down follow by sanding.
remember to put on a mask while doing this, the abs plastic smell is not that great,

afterward i used some m3 double sided tape the have the chrome stick to the aero grill. screw back all the nut, and u r done,
