...I remember hearing that the cool red and black seats in the MC40 are just seat covers? If so, does that mean I could order a set of those red ones for my car? Would this be pricey? Thank you.

Red and black seat covers for the Mini have always been purcahsable options. If my memory is correct the price is around $175.00 for each cover.
The sku#'s are:

Standard Seat Cover:
Left: 52-30-0-147-383
Right: 52-30-0-147-384

Sport Seat Cover:
Left: 52-30-0-147-387
Right: 52-30-0-147-388

Rear Seat Cover:
52-30-0-147-391

I have never seen them installed but I sure would be curious. Could never understand why they offered the black and blue seat option but not a black and red seat option.

Hey, thanks. Do they charge to install those, or is it a DIY?

It's most likely a DIY project. However, I believe the ones in MC40 are leather seats and not just the covering. Classic Soft Trim offers leather seats with the same color and pattern as the MC40.

I can't imagine that Mini would actually install them for free, though it doesn't seem to be that difficult of a task to do for yourself. The Classic Soft Trim people as davecsumini suggested do excellent work I have seen them at the SEMA Show in Vegas, but the price would be quit a bit more, not in the same range as the Mini seatcovers, but I don't think it would be a fair comparison.
There are pros and cons for everything..................
Does anyone know what Mini will charge for the MC40 seats separately?

I read they were covers. Anyways, what about the airbag in the seat--will me doing it DIY mess w/ this? I guess the best place for all these questions would be a MINI dealer. I appreciate all your input too .
