My car was a late bloomer for the 1st oil change. Didn't get to 0 until 13,300. Now I'm getting my 1st maintenance done at just shy of 33,000. Am I the only one who had to motor that many miles to get the 1st maintenance counter down to 0?

I too went in for my first service at around 13500 miles. However, my MINI is at about 25k now and is requesting to be serviced at 30k

I changed the oil in our car after 3k of mostly highway miles, and it looked like it needed it. We have over 8k now, and the service indicator should hit zero around 11-12k miles.

I just hit 10,100 miles and it calls for 950 more miles before it's first oil change. I'll probably change it before since I have a small road trip planned.

'02 Cooper CVT at around 10K miles. Right now she is got 23K miles and the maintenance interval indicator tells us that she is got another 1500 miles to go before her second scheduled maintenance.

My '04 MCS is still 2,600 miles away from its first scheduled maintenance stop.

My MC has about 7500 miles and is saying 750 before the first service... I've already changed my oil once myself (Amsoil 0W-30 Severe Duty) at 1500 miles.

Of course, this car sees plenty of autocrossing and track days... Maybe that's why the short service interval?

FWIW, I'm not even sure I want to take it in, but just change the filter and leave the Amsoil in... the local Amsoil rep drives an MCS and has something like 25k miles on his first oil change using Amsoil - sends a sample to their lab every 5k miles and it's nearly in the same shape as it was when he put it in!

..."Most miles driven before getting 1st maintenance"...

Opps! I'm confusing people. Sorry!!! I should have said "1st inspection" not "1st maintenance". Yep, I am referring to the inspection which happens after your "1st oil change".

Time and miles to first service and first inspection will vary with your driving habits as it affects the MINI's computer and how many miles it may show relative to the next dealer servicing/inspection.

First oil change is supposed to be about 10,000-12,500 miles but varies alot from 8500 to 13,500 miles it seems.
Some dealers want to do the change within about 500 miles of the light indicator but others are willing to do it close to the 10,000 mile mark- it really varies.

First inspection varies the same way from about 25,000 miles on up to 33,000 miles. It not a big deal and many of us change oil more frequently anyway.

Dude, thanks for the explaination, but I was more curious of what mileage people themselves have experienced...

Wanda is at 28,650 and has about 4,000 before first inspection. And such mileage may occur whilst I'm on the road! EEEEEEEK!!!

I have 8900 miles and is showing -250 miles on the maintenance counter. My appointment for service isn't until the 21st. I'm told short distance driving (6 miles to/from work every day) is harder on the engine and counts down the service interval quicker????
