Looking to get a roof rack, whats the best in your opinions, stock/yakima/thule?

Anyone have opinions on better than other roof racks? im looking at getting a rocket box for my car and im looking for the cheapest and most robust rack.

I was thinking of calling mini to see about the stock rack that would be drilled on. and i know there are options for thule/yakima that dont require drilling.

just curious if anyone feels strongly one way or another or can share an experience that may help me decide.

If you like a specific online retailer for this type of thing please point me in their direction too

just an update on my situation.. i found a smokin deal on craigslist for a while yakima rocket box with thule mounting bars and a wind deflector for $250. i did a little research on the mounting bars and to fit the mini it just required a foot kit which is only $80 on amazon.

After looking at prices online for this kind of thing it seems like the equipment (boxes, kayaks, bikes) are all around $300-900 and the hardware mounted on the roof is around $350-550. so for me used gear is the best route.

So if you also would like to minimize the youre wallet damage, find the best deal on craigslist and google the what foot kit your vehicle needs for the mounting hardware!

I still wonder the quality difference between the stock rack and what im about to purchase but the price difference is enough for me to make this decision now, both yakima and thule are pretty well established brands so im sure it will be good, the stock mount just might have strength and weight advantage.

anyway that worked out well for me hoorayyyyyyy rocket box!

Goood to hear! So I got the box, the guy failed to mention that the bars were being sold separately so he sprung an extra $200 on the cost for the bars.... Really annoyed me but since he never mentioned it before he took an even $400 for the set, still a better deal than new but grrrrrrrr!

Oh well, I'm dismantling and planning on sanding and recoating the components. Anyone know of a good sealant for the metal parts?
