Couldn't find those specific "parking" instructions in my manual('13 MINI/MINI Clubman) although there is info on pgs. 46 and 63 about lighting during parking and parking aids. There is also some info on acoustic signals that sound at quicker intervals as you progress, a notation that the lever locks into place automatically but you shouldn't pull it up too hard and there is always the possibility of malfunction. For those of you with automatics it is very specific about being position "P".
