R50/53 Are dealers taking 2005 orders for 2004 prices?
Does anybody know if any of the dealers are taking orders and deposits for 2005 models, but committing to the 2004 prices?
About the only option new for 2005 that doesn't have a corresponding current feature (I think) is the new instrument cluster that puts the speedo and tacho on the steering column.
If so, are they asking for more of a deposit than what seems to be the standard $500?

Are you kidding?
USA MINI Dealers don't have pricing for 2005 models; options and accessories for 2005 models; or allocations for July 2004....which appears to be the start of the 2005 Model Year MINIs....at least in Europe and the Rest of the World, including Canada. MINI and BMW have kept all their USA dealers....and potential MINI buyers in the US in the dark.
If MINIUSA follows MINI, there will be a 2.5% price increase across the MINI lineup, and it will affect all cars manufactured after 7/1/04. Last year buyers who ordered cars for September production had to pay the price increase, even though many ordered cars weeks before the increases went into effect. You will pay whatever is on the sticker when the car arrives at the dealership, not what it was when you ordered the car.
At this point, with most May and June production spoken for, you're most likely looking at a 2005 unless you can find a dealer who still has unsold June production cars available. Good Luck

>>oh well
>>it was worth a try
>>I thought there was someone who posted a while back that he had gotten a 2005 for 2004 prices
I received a call to spec our 2004 MCS in December 2003 before the price increase and I asked if we could have the current price and not the new price but I was told that whatever the price is after it arrives at the dealership is what I would have to pay.
