Insurance for HPDE?

I'm signed up for my first HPDE next week, and have been thinking about insurance in case I lose it on the Corkscrew at MRLS and wreck. Did a search, and came up with some really old threads and some stuff about auto-X but nothing recent on this.

I called my carrier (AAA) and explained that I was looking at doing a HPDE on a race track - driving fast, with coaches, but NOT racing. After talking to 4 people, who all said "never heard of that, sounds like fun...this question has never come up before" with a couple of them consulting other more senior people, the best they could tell me was "speed contests" are specifically excluded, but since this isn't a speed contest then coverage would have to be determined in the event of a claim. They didn't have any specific exclusion for driving on a racetrack or high speed driving off of public roads, but wouldn't give me a thumbs up/down.

What experience have you all had? This is for CA, I know laws and insurance policies vary state to state.

Options are: 1) I'm a noob, take it easy and don't sweat it; 2) buy 1 day agreed value insurance for the event.

I would highly recommend against calling your insurance company and inquiring about track day insurance. I've heard about people being dropped from their insurance for asking such questions. You identify yourself as a higher risk driver when you call and start asking about "racing". Of course I've never known anyone personally that's happened to. Just friends of friends kind of thing.

These are the guys they recommend at Summit Point here in West Virginia. There are lots of other options out there.

Yeah, I didn't give my name or policy number, and it was hypothetical - "I'm considering doing this HPDE..." for just that reason.

Already looked into them, price looks pretty reasonable. Thanks!
