msc brake pad question?
Service dept stated I have 9mm left on my front pads and they replace at 3mm. I have 17000 mi, have I used 50% or more? does any one know how many mm stock pads have when new?

remember the 'seat of the pants' check
when the pad material is thinner than the backing plate - time to change
here's a nearly new pad with some white paint on the backing plate
and here's a worn pad
