R50/53 DD brakes?
DD brakes?
So it's brake time again.
Sorry, I've done searches for which pads and rotors are best and got a bunch of nonsense about everything but brakes. I know it has to be out there.
So what are the best brake pads and rotors for a daily driver? I can tell you Wagner brakes from advanced auto are not good but i put up with them because I was so sick of brakes after shattering two torques bits taking the old rotors off that I didn't want to touch the brakes again until I had to.
My priorities are 1 safety, 2 safety, 3 safety. I'm not an aggressive driver but I want my car to stop quick in an emergency and maybe it would be nice if they're quiet
Brake dust has defeated me. I no longer care that my white wheels are eternally stained
.
I don't want to get screwed by cheeping out again with factory pre warped rotors, so what should I get?
I was looking at bremo replacement rotors and either akebono or stop tech pads on tire rack. I was leaning toward hawk hps pads but I'm thinking of giving the sensors a second chance. (They didn't warn me that my original pads were worn off and tearing into a rotor very early due to uneven wear.)

well EBC does some good pads
I have SS brake lines the brake stiffening bushings and ebc green stuff all around, I plan on getting EBC sloted rotors too (front, rear). but that will be next year maybe. I stop pretty darn good I think once I get the rotors and a pad that bites a bit better I will be all set.
check you year and model the links are just examples of what I got.
ALSO it not just your brakes that you need to worry about your tires as well they play the biggest roll in stopping.

Agree that centric is a good daily driver rotor. In street driving should get quite a few miles out of them. As far as pads, everbody has their favorite.
I have always been good with Hawk pads. For you the HPS should work fine. Could also look into carbotech...although known for track pads, they do make a street pad (the 1521 compound). Not as cheap as auto parts store brake pads but if you are going for quality, and who shouldn't be when it comes to brakes, good options

I've been installing the Hawk Ceramics and Centric rotors for street-driven DDs to good effect. Really, any high-quality pad and rotor will fit your requirements of safety. We still sell the EBC, but I have to admit that we've started moving away from them after a couple of delamination problems (in defense of EBC, the delaminations could have been the result of abuse).
EBC Red and any decent rotor - solid, no slots or drilling
I've used EBC pads consistently since oh .. 2005. Recently changed from Green to Red and the red are virtually dust free. WAY less that OE and less then Green which are better than OE themselves.
I've recommended EBC R to several folks (and installed 'em for them) and have not heard complaint one . . .

Low dust, great life and very close to stock feel.
