1st HPDE event with the Mini... and wow, am I impressed

Went out to New Jersey Motorsports Park thunderbolt track for my first track day with my 2006 MCS this past weekend. NARRA ran the event so it was mostly Vipers. Other cars in my group were a GTR, race prepped Evo, Porsche GT3 and a Miata. By the end of the weekend the MCS had gained a lot of respect from me as well as most of the other drivers. I've done a few HPDE events in the past in my old 350z as well as a weekend in my buddy's old R32, but I must say I've never had this much fun in a car as in my MCS. Weather didn't really cooperate Saturday so the track was wet, but heat and sun on Sunday dried it up.

I'm hooked. Already looking for parts for the R56/JCW brake upgrade and ordered some better rubber for the next event in mid-July.

Here's a vid of my last session. Only had 4 cars out in that so aside from a GTR blowing past me in the straight, it was like my own private racetrack.

#1 thing I learned over the weekend:
Bring spares! Trust me, you do not want to be running to Advanced Auto to buy the "best front brake pads" they have and swapping them on the hot asphalt in 85 degree weather just to finish out the weekend and get home.

#2 thing:
rear sway was the best suspension mod i did. So easy to rotate the rear and so much fun
