Chatter and loss of power during spirited acceleration?

I have a 2010 mini s that is pretty much stock. the only thing that I have done to the car is an aem cai. recently I have noticed when I am on the throttle pulling out of a corner the car seem to have good pull/power and then seems to make a chattering noise from the lower part of the engine compartment (bottom front of the car) and looses power. it has the standard six speed transmission and only has 40k miles on it. does anyone know of transmission or clutch issues that could cause this to happen. or is there something else I should be looking for. I have a service appointment set up for Saturday at motorwerks mini bmw in Bloomington so I want to have a few possible ideas before I go in. at this point I know it isn't the intake, or bad fuel. somewhat lost at this point. any ideas or possibilities would be helpful!

Are you sure you're not feeling wheelspin and then traction control kicking in?

Absolutely sure it isn't that. Its what seems like a misfire.

I've had this happen when going uphill in a higher gear than I probably should. Solved for me by using lower gears.

turn off the DTC and DSC and try again

sounds like the ECU is sensing wheelspin and pulling the power to control it

Would that cause a metallic chatter sound? Just worries me.
