Replaced Timing Chain - Car No Longer Starts
Replaced Timing Chain - Car No Longer Starts
Here is the backstory. I was driving home from work and while slowing down for a stop light the car shut off. After having it towed back to my house and listening to it, it sounded like something was wrong with the timing. So I pulled the valve cover and the exhaust sprocket bolt had broken. It was caused by the Vac pump seizing and preventing the exhaust cam from turning, which in turn over stressed the bolt on the cam sprocket and caused it to break.
I went ahead and replaced the timing chain and tensioner along with the vac pump. The end of the bolt easily came out of the cam and I replaced it with a new one. I also removed both cams and the valves appear to move easily and make good contact. I reset the timing using the tool.
After clearing the codes for the cams not being timed right the car still not start and I am now getting only codes P0342 & P0367 which indicate that the cam position sensors are bad. This seems like too much of a coincidence that both of these went bad at the same time that car lost timing and it makes me think I have over looked something. Will these codes prevent the car from starting? It is getting spark but almost seems like no fuel is entering the cylinders if I try to start it with the plugs out.
Thanks for reading.

I'd think I'd do a compression check just to rule out that you didn't have a valve to piston collision when the bolt broke. If not, then I'd have to guess something else with the re-timing process went awry and you are out of time. Post up with the compression check! Fingers crossed for you.
