Shifting Issue

Ok so I am having trouble getting into gear. It is if like there were a wall that I have to push through, just to get it in gear. I assumed it was the clutch but, when I called Mini, they said it would not be the clutch. He mentioned the clutch master/slave cylinder. The Mini Dealership is not close to where I live and I really dont want to drive it that far if it is something I can do myelf. CAn anyone tell me what the symptoms of those two parts failing would be? and, how difficult is it to replace?

Have you done a search here about shifting problem?
Look up above on the right hand corner and just below the yellow Mini is the word SEARCH.

+1 on the search engine. Try using key words like master cylinder and throwout bearing or TOB.

Sounds like it could be the shifting lug has seized up.....

If you remove the air box completely you can see this mechanism mounted on top of the transmission with cables attached. Sometimes PB Blaster can free it up, but that would only be temporary fix if that worked.
