R56 H&R Cup kit help
H&R Cup kit help
About a month and a half ago I installed the H&R Sport Cup kit on my car. This is the set up that lowers the car about 2". I lowered and got an alignment and have had no issues. None of the vibrations or anything that plague some people and is usually a sign of CV/axle problems in the future. I, surprisingly, have had no scraping issues whether on the bumper or the fenders. The only thing that has contact are the rubber air dam fins that rest below the bumper.
Now, I live in CO. There are potholes everywhere and sometimes driving on the roads seems like I'm trying to avoid land mines and I've done this before lowering as well. Two days ago I heard a noise that sounds like it's coming from the front driver's side. It does not sound like the bumper is scraping as the noise seems like it's coming from the front left wheel area. Initially, I thought my tire scraped the fender. But I haven't had this problem before. The noise sounds metallic in nature and it concerns me.
The noise occurs and lower speeds (like 25mph and below). It only happens on bumps/dips in the road (have had no issues on speed bumps) and it doesn't occur consistently. It does not matter if I'm turning or going straight and it does not occur on any other location, just the front driver's side.
My initial concern was that maybe the shock is busted (it's not like I've been able to avoid every pothole), but the fact that this noise occurred randomly on a minimal dip at low speed on the road and that it doesn't occur everytime makes me think it's something else. This car hasn't been on a track nor is it driven hard. Just normal driving on normal roads with some wear and tear from the winter. I would think an H&R set up would be able to handle daily driving (with 90% of it being smooth highway driving) without breaking
.
Any insight/help would be appreciated.
