Comfort Bluetooth/USB $6NE music via Bluetooth?

I have what I believe is called Comfort Bluetooth/USB and the code $6NE in my VO.

I have standard Boost audio with no Nav. The Bluetooth integration works great for sending and receiving calls and I don't use the useless empty phone cradle in the armrest. Hooking up an iPod via USB works fine also.

I noticed one day that when using my iPhone (4S) with Google Maps that the spoken direction instructions come through the audio system. I.e. music playing is muted during the spoken instructions.

So my question is to see if it is possible to play music from the unconnected iPhone over Bluetooth to the car audio?

If so how?

You can only stream music via bluetooth if you have MINI Connected, with or without nav. Either way, you would have a large screen in the middle of the speedo, and two buttons and a joystick just behind the gearshift.

Thanks for clarifying that. I suspected that was the case.

Even though all the building blocks are there and working, it is a bit frustrating that you can't add an extra Audio Bluetooth music input.

From what I can find out, Google Maps tricks any connected phone capable audio into thinking the message is part of a phone conversation. I think IOS Maps, Siri and others work the same way.

Music playback is different in that the iPhone needs to see a BT "remote speaker" before it offers that as a playback option.

So I think the Mini audio system would need to offer a BT audio input which would then appear to the iPhone as a remote speaker that is connected and available.

I would be very surprised if the system can't do this and it just needs a few tick boxes to enable it. My plan is to have a good look into the 6NE coding features.

Anyone have any experience of trying to do this?
