I may be contrary to the popular opinion, but I really want to convert my rear turn indicators from red to amber. I've had a 2005 with regular bulbs and understand the new 2013 are LED in the back. Is it possible to just plug an amber LED bulb in or is there some other modification needed.

I'd prefer it not be obvious until it's lit up.

Only the running light stripes are LED. The rest of the taillight (brake and turn signals) use standard bulbs.

For amber turn signals, I think you'd have to swap out the entire taillights for the European version. There was a discussion here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-possible.html

I wonder how you'd source a set to get shipped to the USA?

 

I found two that are selling the Euro Blackline kit so you could have amber with a smokey look. They come with rear fog so would not fit an '05 though. AllMiniWorkshop.es and MiniGenuineParts.uk.

The price tripped me up for now. Just buying the individual two parts was expensive enough to make the blacklines interesting.

Maybe if I could find a buyer for the blackout rings front and back....

 

Blacklines arrived today and partially installed.
Still have to install the fog/reverse to match.
