I just got an interesting reply form a Mini dealer when I asked what he charged for the Mini clear rear lights. He warned me that the bulbs on the clear lights are on a carrier and if one of the bulbs burns out you must replace the whole carrier and it costs $49.50 US. Does any one else know anything about this.

I'll be taking mine off once I find a red bulb so I can do Sprogs' brake
light thingy but as I remember it is the same set-up.

from what i understand the clear taillights for cars are just lenses...the wireing and stuff like that stay factory so if a bulb blows you can replace just that bulb

You have to remove the whole lamp carrier when replacing tail assembly bulbs but the bulbs themselves can be replaced individually.

The easy mod to cause the top rear fog lamps to light when the brake (or running) circuit is closed doesn't have to even involve the bulb carrier. It can be done within the modular plug that inserts into the bulb carrier.
