Dealer replaced leather seat cushion

My drivers side seat developed a crack, not in the leather, but in the vinyl on the side of the seat (where the vinyl comes in contact with the black plastic seat base). I dont know how common this is, but people might want to check by pressing down on the seat cushion. It doesnt show up much when no one is sitting on the seat. The replacement seat cover looks really loose, but I have been assured that they all do at first and it will look "normal" after it has been sat in for a while. Anyone else have this experience? The head of the service department said he rarely sees a seat crack on the side, yet when you think of it, it seems like a very likely place for it to happen.

My car is well out of warranty now, but when it was.....I repoerted this same cracking when it was in for service. They told me it was a wear item and wouldn't do anything about it. I complained to the dealership and to MINI to no avail. Honestly it wasn't that bad, but it will eventually rip there in that spot. My seats are lounge leather, btw.

Glad you got yours taken care of.

The leather parts of the seats have held up well, in fact they look like new. Im just afraid that the leatherette parts on the sides are where these seats will tend to have problems. I hope I'm wrong by the fact that only two people have responded to this thread.

I have the same problem on mine, and it's been there for quite a while. I haven't complained to the dealer about it... seems sort of silly to make a trip just for that, and I didn't think of it when I had the car in for maintenance a few weeks ago.

Its a common problem, my dealer covered mine under warranty even though I bought it used.
