What should i reasonably expect?

Going to the dealer today, and I'll be trading my 09 MCSa with 49k. KBB lists the trade value between 11.6-14.1k. I currently owe $13k. Emailing with another mini dealer yesterday, the offered me about $7k (which isn't going to happen). Am I expecting too much to get closer to my payoff? I know kbb isn't super-accurate but it can't be that far off?

Thanks

I hope that you get a fair deal, 7 it's unfairly low and they will make a ton of money on the resale

Go to Carmax and get an appraisal. Then take it to your dealer. You can use that to negotiate with the dealer.

I'd love to, but nearest Carmax is 180 miles away.

One has to wonder, how much $$ gain do you need to drive 180 miles after a $7k offer. Seems to me a fair offer from Carmax to waive in the Dealers face is well worth a few hours and $$ for gas. After all, 360 miles round trip is not exactly like going across country.

I got a much better offer ($5k better) from my local dealer and so ordered my new R58 with them yesterday. I was trying to be a loyal customer to my old dealer who were the only one within 3 hours for a long time but I guess my loyalty meant nothing to them. I'll be making sure their general manager is aware of the lost sale. $12k is a little under KBB but I was happy with the offer and the rest of the numbers worked.

Great, glad to hear it worked out and you did not lose 5k in trade in value.
