Steering Column lowering

Has anyone out there successfully modified the stop point for lowering the steering column? meaning.. mod to allow steering wheel closer to your lap?

or have any ideas if its even possible.

I wouldn't recommend it: it's a safety issue. Remember that the airbag is engineered to deploy at a specific angle range.
