2006 front emblem question

My front emblem on my 2006 S, is all silver, possibly faded out. When I look with the hood raised, I do not see any prongs on the inside of hood where this emblem is secured nor any holes.

The replacement front emblems I see have two prongs as if it will be secured someway.

My emblem from all indications looks like it is glued to the surface.

So for the 2006, mfg date Oct206, do I need to buy the whole emblem with the 2 prongs or should I be looking for a replacement that is a decal?

Thanks for your help. I have tried finding this answer in search before asking here.

To replace it you need to remove it. To remove the emblem get some fishing string and slide it underneath rocking it back and forth and it will come off. It is held on with double sided tape. Heat it up with a hair dryer first and it makes it much easier.

I received my emblem today from Mini Mania, but the emblem has the 2 posts on the back side of the emblem. On their site they only showed the front side of the emblem and said that part number was for the R53/R53 Mini S. They are out today and are only accepting email questions which I have sent, so I will not get an answer from them until Monday.

The reason I am asking, is on the OutMortoring site, it shows the front and back of the emblem, with 2 posts on the back of the emblem. They also say in their description "the image shown is a Gen 2 but we have the Gen 1 emblems in front and rear applications".

I think the one I need for my 2006 is the emblem where there is not any posts.

I thought maybe someone on the forum could tell me if the front emblem for a 2006 Mini S should not have any posts that fit through the hood.

I've answered my own question.

Found the same emblem on the ECS site, and I now know those are alignment pins.

A followup to my front emblem replacement. I had a small gap between the emblem and body of the car and didn't have much success with the fishing line because I bought the cheapest roll of line thus less weight.

I did have a set of plastic tools with enough strength and a sharp edge to get under the emblem and pry it off the car without scratching the paint. That tool is a plastic tool that is used to remove the white sealant around a bathtub.

Of course after getting the old emblem off, the two pins I had asked about earlier, it was quite obvious what they were for. I cleaned the surface and it was an easy replacement.

Did you try a heat gun or letting the car set in the sun before removal , it helps disengage the tape a little.

Then you just line the new one up and your done.

R53 and R52 MINI Cooper S hood emblem.

Pics make it allot easier to figure out.

Thanks
