2008 mini copper s brake upgrade ?

Good morning fellow Mini lovers !!! I am about to upgrade the brakes on my 08 cooper S. I have Mechanic friend that will do the work for a case of Shocktop !! So i can spend a little more money on the brakes themselves. I don't have the cash to buy BBK so I guess what I am asking is what is out there that is going to serve me well and not break the bank ? I don't track the car just a little aggresive street driving when the wife isn't in the car.....

I did a brake upgrade a few months ago with NM slotted/drilled rotors and EBC Redstuff pads...much better than stock and near zero brake dust which is a plus! Looks nice as well!

Since it's just for the street, you can really save a lot and put on pretty much anything you want. You won't be generating track-temp heat within the braking system, so cross-drilled rotors would be ok, if you like the looks. Otherwise, you could just get new blank rotors and better pads like the EBC Redstuffs mentioned above or Hawk HP+, etc. Stainless steel lines are another option, but again, since you're not abusing the system on the street, they may not make much of a difference.

In any case, how much money are you thinking of spending? You could look at some of the Wilwood BBK kits for the street which are only a little over $600 bucks for the front calipers and rotors. Then get the matching pads for the rear and slightly larger rear rotors and have yourself a BBK on the cheap.

Yes, you could do a ECS Geomet Rotor with EBC Reds or Hawk HP , they are both great choices.

ECS Geomets : Cross Drilled and Slotted

ECS Geomets : Slotted

EBC Reds: Front and rear kit

Hawk HPS : fronts

Thanks and let me know if you need anything else.
