Couple of Questions.... Need advice on mods

Hey guys, I love my mini and i want to mod it up. I love exhaust tone and induction sounds. I have 2 motorcycles both of which with racing exhausts since this is NH and they dont care too much on them, but cars is a bit different. I see it as as long as there is a good engine note, who needs a good sound system, granted i have the HK and its a preety awsome system. I do drive all year long, so snow is an issue in the winter, stuff needs to last

question 1: which CAI systems do you guys reconmend? i was informed that the aFe would be good for NH due to the quality construction. but all the pictures i have seen of the aFe, it doesnt seem like its pulling in as much air as the alta and DDM.

question 2: I was considering a scorpion catback.... but i really like the tone of magnaflow.... the magnaflow catback is super expensive compared to the scorpion. I did find a shop where if i brought him two magnaflow mufflers, i was thinking of the #11226 replacing the stock mufflers and using 2.5 pipe from the cat all the way out, i already have tips, i was told it would be anywhere from 200-250 for the pipe and welding required to put the system in then roughly 70-80 for the mufflers them selves...

i was curious if anyone has doneomething like this and knew if there would be any problems of putting in a system like that such as a check engine light or not enough backpressure.

any insight would be great. thanks!

For the price, the scorpion catback is pretty nice...have taken a short ride in a cabrio with one....sounded pretty good.
I personaly like the MILTECK/Stratosphe, (a bit deeper in sound) but the extra $200+ is hard to justify.....plus living local to BAV-AUTO, saving $$ on shipping is a nice thing....

For intake sound, the ALTA STYLE is KING...and I say style, cause it is pretty basic and often copied, often for less $$. if you want SC WHINE, it is THE way to go. Others offer better isolation from heat, etc due to materials or design, but based on sound, the alta style is king. I went with a Dinian one (when they were still available), made of plastic (sealed to the engine bay, and better heat rejection), oem look, and a sound similar to the JCW, but just the the JCW exhaust, too tame for many!!

Scorpion sound http://video.search.yahoo.com/video/...1a3dg9gm&&tt=b
I like my K&N typhoon intake. It makes the supercharger sound very loud and I love it.

yeah ive seen that vid before, granted videos dont do justice to sounds, but im sure its close, i like the magnaflow more, just want to know if the custom exhaust would be plausable.

and the K&N does that come with the CAI housing? cause i already have the K&N cleaning kit for my bikes

For the intake go with the DDMworks intake, it fits the best is all stainless, and makes great power. I've never been happy with the fitment of the AFe on the R53 cars.

As for exhaust the Magnaflow drones ALOT, so be warned. I suggest going with our Stratmosphere or the Milltek exhaust as they make the most torque, fit great, and don't drone.

fitment is important, the raods up here are bumpy.... no need to throw a code.

drone doesnt bother me too much cause im sure nothing drones like my drz400 with racing exhaust. but its not the magnaflow actual catback i was going to get, they want too much money.

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/d...rtnumber=11226 was thinking of two of these, no resonator with 2.5 tubing

Here is the K&N http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...prod=69-2021TP
There are many opinions out there on which is the BEST. Way has always steered people in the right direction. I just happen to like the way the K&N looks and sounds.

Depends on the intake you get.

99% for looks....
the oem intake pipe is pretty smooth on the inside....the silcone tubes tend to actually have a bit of a rougher feel to the interior....
but they do look nice....
