Need info/hlep buying a compressor and air tools.

I've been shopping around, new and used, for an air compressor so that I can do more work on my car more quickly and easily.

I don't know anyone with an air compressor or tools, other than pro mechanics with $5,000 compressors in their shops, never owned a portable one.

I've read that the more SCFM's you have the better. I've also read that SCFM's are a marketing plou. But how many do I need to run an impact gun and air ratchet to change my shocks, install a sway bar, change mounts, etc. Not all at once, but one thing each season.

So I'll use it approximately 3 times a year, it won't be much, but when I do, it will be for a decent sized job. And since I have the tools I'll maybe be more inclined to refinish and spray rims for friends and myself. So I'd like something capable of that too.

So what do I need to be looking for in terms of tank size, HP, SCFM, and PSI... anything else?

Any advice would be appreciated.

The only question I would ask you is do you have access to 220volt? Then I would get this one, because it would be more then enough for a home mechanic. It will power anything you could throw at it in your garage. Just one example.

If you only have 120v then I would get this, though it will cycle more frequently.

These are just some of my opinions as I have had good luck with them in the past.
