Soot under bonnet/turbocharger PSA diesel engine

Whilst I understand the diesel varient is not readily available in the US please see http://www.independent.ie/national-n...d-3368951.html a news story has been published in the Irish Independent, The Irish Times, The Irish Examiner today relating to my Wife Helen Noble & suspected carbon monoxide poisoning from a faulty turbocharger on a 2008 mini cooper clubman D

We have a national UK broadsheet newspaper who are investigating this case and would like to hear from any mini D owners who have experienced similar faults with their turbochargers, leaking pre cat, failing or that have been replaced in or out of warranty, or experienced a build up of soot under the bonnet, around the turbocharger/heatshield.

If you are interested please pm me & I will provide further contact details.

thanks

While an exaust leak is an obvious issue....
I have never heard of a diseal making carbon monoxide.... Have driven maybe 400,000 miles with heavy duty diesel motors....and my share of leaks...some by the door of a heavy truck waiting a few weeks for a repair....not saying not an issue...but modern diesel motors make almost exclusively carbon dioxide and water...so clean that shops do not even have to connect exaust tubes to vent them when working on them indoors...
Hopefully they get it fixed for ya!!

Thanks Zippy - carbon monoxide only one of the alleged nasties - we understand that raw diesel fumes pre-catalytic convertor got into the cabin from through ventilation system and air intake in bulk head from leaking turbo charger - apparently problem with the psa engine. Appreciate model not sold in US. Now driving the original Rover mini cooper 1275 :D
