Why So Many JCW Coupes & Roadsters?
Why So Many JCW Coupes & Roadsters?
I have been searching Auto Trader to see what is available around the country in a NEW JCW convertible and hardtop and what they are getting for them.
When I search for new 2012 and 2013's using the keyword "John Cooper Works" for "any distance from my location" the cars that mainly come up are JCW Coupes and Roadsters for sale. Very few Hardtops or Convertibles in the search results.
I wonder why? There seem to be a lot of dealers with JCW Coupes and Roadsters and a few Countrymen but not a lot of other styles. Maybe they made a bunch at once for dealer inventory?

Among other reasons, the hatches, clubmen, and countrymen are usually bought for their combination of fun and practicality while the convertible is often bought for cruising. For the average (non-enthusiast) driver of those, a justa or s has enough power and the extra expense of a JCW would just be money wasted in their eyes. The coupe and roadster however, were designed for those who bought MINIs for fun and had no need for rear seats or extra doors. It makes sense then that the coupe and roadster would be the most common JCW models.
