R50/53 Seat Repair
Seat Repair
I own a 2004 Mini Cooper S with heated front seats. I was visiting a friend today and it was the first time he had seen my new Cooper. He sat in the drivers seat forgetting he had a screwdriver in his back pocket and it tore the seating surface. Can I just purchase the seating surface portion without having to replace the entire seat? Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.
My condolences! My dearly-departed Father-in-Law did the same thing in my BMW e46M3 a few years back. (I got so nauseated, I almost threw up), Fortunately, I repaired the puncture thanks to Leatherique filler and their water-based dye. In your instance, it all depends on what seat material you have: Leather, Leatherette, cloth? If leather or leatherette, it can be repaired. Cloth-recover. Let me know which you have.
I just purchased the Mini in October, it looks and feels like leatherette. I don't think it is leather. The seat is heated and luckily the heater element is still working. My fear was that the screwdriver could have damaged the heating element.
$432 for just the seat base cover (part 1 in "imitation leather") it says here:
