2500 for Extended Maintenance? Are you kidding me?!?!?

So I went through the complete order and I'm supposed to take delivery of my CMS ALL4 this week.

They went through everything and I thought the monthly payment came out high.... Higher than what I worked up at home. Turns out, they are quoting me 2500 dollars for the extended maintenance... NOT EXTENDED WARRANTY... EXTENDED MAINTENANCE.

I told them that it's $1895 online and has not changed and my MA said that the $2500 was the quote for the ALL4.

Anyone else heard of this? The only think I can imagine is that they have had so many clutch complaints, that they are jacking the price up because the clutch is covered under that... He said I could haggle with the finance person, but I'm just going in and raising hell. I'm done with the whole "catch more flies with honey than vinegar" bit... That hasn't gotten me the service and treatment so far that I feel I deserve being that this is the 4th car I've bought from the dealer in the last 10 years and the 2nd MINI...

That's 600 dollars more! Why the massive increase?!?!? Has anyone else had this quoted to them for EM?

Well, if it's a manual CM All4 it will pay for itself with the first clutch replacement, but it's still a rip off. A clutch should last past the maintenance converage assuming the driver knows waht he / she is doing and the parts are good to start with.

you'd think that, except if the clutch goes before 40k, which it will, MINI will deem it user error and not cover it. screw them.

My original MA from back on '03 has moved beyond sales, and now does the finance work (including chatting buyers up when they close out their paperwork). I broke his heart when I passed on the Maintenance offer a month ago. C'est la vie.

I just figured that if it was my business, and I could make money on the actual parts and services consumed by my customers OR I could make money on a Plan, and my decision was to push the Plan, that I'd be doing that because it made me the most money of the two options.

So my friend pushed the Plan and I passed - I never bet against the house!

Cheers,

Charlie

Even with the maintenance package, I think the only cover 1 clutch per lifetime of the car, and at that they usually aruge that you killed it and end up not covering it. BMW really has crappy customer service. The worst in my opinion.

Luckily on my mini, the previous owner paid the maintenance.

The finance guy quoted me $2095 but dropped it to $1895 when I told him that was the price on the website. That difference probably goes straight into his pocket.

I will reiterate. Do not buy this on the account that they will replace the clutch should it fail.

They will blame your driving style and get out of covering it, regardless of warranty or maintenance package.

i don't think you have to pick that up right away, you don't have to pick it up until a little before the standard maintenance runs out. you can also shop around and maybe get it quoted from a cheaper dealership.

Correct; also you may want to ask your friendly local independent MINI/BMW specialist shop what they charge for a similar list of services.
