R60 Can the Countryman All4 be locked into AWD mode?
I was wondering if anyone knows how to or if it could be programmed to keep the Countyman All4 in AWD mode? Maybe it could be programmed so it could be activated by the sport button or turning off traction control. Right now the system defaults to FWD if you aren't losing traction or really on the gas. I was hoping maybe it could be switched into AWD with a standard 60/40 (front/rear) power distribution like a traditional AWD system so that I could predict what it's going to do a little better, and so I can have a little fun with it. It's hard to get a good drift going on snow and ice if it keeps taking the power away from the rear wheels as soon as you back off just a little on the throttle.
I don't believe it ever gets over 50% RWD. I believe it starts at 50/50 and can go as high as 100% front, but never more than 50% rear.
I understand how it works, and I think they missed pointing out that it is also based on throttle position. If you let up on the throttle it seems to push the power distribution more towards the front. So, if you foot isn't to the floor once you're already moving, say you're in a sideways drift at about 20 mph on a snow covered road, and you let up on the throttle a little and try to flutter it to keep the drift going, the car kind of snaps back because the power isn't sent right back to the rear wheels, more of the power is delivered to the front. I'm just looking for a way to lock the power distribution at one setting so when I hit the throttle I can predict what is going to happen. This is all will traction control off and DSC off.
