R50/53 Oil filter wont fit
Oil filter wont fit
Hello. I have a MCS 06 made in June. I got a filter from Pelican Parts. When I pulled filter from housing, the hole is a lot larger on my filter than the one I received from PP. When I contacted PP, they said that is the filter for my engine. (P/n 11-42-7-512-446 Oil filter kit). So, I guess my question is, do I force the oil filter onto the tube and stretch the hole or do I have the wrong filter. Are the filters for a first gen different than a filter for a second gen? Thanks. Brian.

That is the correct part # for an '06 "S". If this is the first time you are changing your oil I have a couple of tips for you.
1. Warm up you car and then put it in the air on ramps or jack stands. Pull the drain plug and let it drain throughly.
2. After it stops dripping just crack your filter to release the seal and you will see the oil start to drain again. Walk away for a few minutes untill it stops draining. When you return you can then unscrew the oil filter canister and you will not spill a drop of oil.
3. Take your new filter and pre install it to the engine then remove it and install it into the canister being sure to bottom it out. This will help to ease the install of threading the canister onto the engine and prevent the possibility of cross threading ( be very carefull not to cross thread it).
4. Put a coat of fresh oil on the "o" ring and install on the canister.
Tightening of both the drain plug and canister just needs to be fairly snug and not forceably tight.
5. Add oil and your good to go.
