Roof rack base install

I've got my racks and everything seems easy except the very first part. The instruction manual identifies 'secure fittings' and pulling 'pre-punched part of the gutter' off before installation.

Honestly, I have run the install tool between the roof and gutter and I see nothing 'pre-punched', nor do they specify (with measurements!) where to find the secure fittings/pre-punched areas, which I assume are in the same place.

Sorry if I read like an idiot or if I've posted this in an incorrect way/place and thanks in advance for any help. It's my first time here.

This is the 1st generation forum so I'm assuming that's what you have. In which case it sounds like you have the second generation rack. Installation of the former requires drilling the roof. The second generation has attachment points by the drip rails from the factory I believe.
