Contrary to what is noted at http://new.minimania.com/article/254...roblem_-_Hints, (discussion about first generation oil filter covers), the newer "updated cover" (#11 42 7 563 763) does not seem to work on my 2003 Cooper built with the original cover containing the plastic spring (#11 42 7 514 988). I tried two different brands of oil filters (OEM, WIX) and although the cover threaded on fine, the oil pressure warning light stayed lighted at idle and would go out at about 2000rpm. When I took the WIX filter out of the newer cover and put it in my old cover the oil pressure light did not light at all.
