MK2 Cooper Possibly For Sale in SoCal...
Although not officially on the market, I am considering selling my Mini and moving on to greener pastures. Here are the specs. It is a genuine MK2 Morris Cooper with the following all new items: new paint (red & white top), bonnet stripes, quick release bonnet hinges, extensive soundproofing, Newton carpet kit, Cobra Classic seats, Safety Devices cage, MK5 wavy grille, dual spots, new headlights and covers, new battery, all new window rubber and trim, new bumpers and over-riders, rear boot-mounted spotlight, dual tanks (recently refurbished), flip-top caps, new badges, KAD adjustable adjustible rear suspension, excellent condition hydrolastic with uprated front shocks, brand new Quickrack, knuckle joints, and trackrods, heavy duty negative camber front tie rods, brand new Minilights with chrome lugs and new A008 Yokohamas, good condition centre-binnicle instrumentation with a column mounted tachometer, very good condition switches, excellent condition NOS Mini mats, newly restored heater, new leather steering wheel, very clean body color engine bay, new Monte Carlo arches, new quality bullet mirrors, and TONS of extras. The braking system is 100% brand new off-the-shelf consisting of Minispares four-pots, new uprights & bearings, new master cylinder, new slave cylinders, silicone, Cooper S drums, new shoes, Greenstuff pads, new hard lines, stainless lines front and back, and custom stainless lines replacing all the hard lines in the engine bay. The clutch has a new master and slave cylinder and a one-piece stainless clutch hose.
The engine is a recently rebuilt (250 miles ago) 1275 punched out to a 1330 with 10:1 pistons, Innocenti rods, solid block (hot-tanked and line bored), 166 Kent cam, Kent vernier cam drive, nitrated & hardened Innocenti crank, new bearings throughout, adjustable oil pressure, oil trap, spin on filter conversion, new 2-care, new oil cooler with stainless lines, LCB, machined Metro manifold, all ARP hardware, heavy duty clutch, new throwout, stainless adjustable push rod, 3.44 final drive remote change close ratio Cooper S 4-syncro box, central oil pickup, turbo oil pump, high capacity water pump, brand new HIF44, conical K&N, billet stub, wrapped LCB, centre exit stainless big bore RC40 single box, rebuilt 12G940 head with large valves, bronze guides, Kent dual springs, Minifin, etc. Absolutely no expense was spared in the build of this engine.
This Mini has a TON of other stuff that I cannot remember – this is just off the top of my head. I have well over $20,000 invested. It is not a concourse restoration but a rally look car made for driving. It has very little rust, if any. This is a beautiful car that gets a lot of attention at the shows. It runs very well and was just tuned up at Mincomp. Engine is still carefully being broken in, but it has a scary amount of power. Any reasonable offers will be considered.
