Thule Roof rack placement measurements?

Hi guys,

I bought a Thule roof rack localled for my Cooper S and it did not come with instructions

Does anyone know what the measurements are for placement on the roof?

According to a youtube video I saw its 4.5 inches from the A pilled in the front and then 27 1/4 between bars...but they also used the short roof adapter which I won't be using.

Anyone know if these dimensions would change if I wasn't using the short roof adapter?

Thanks,

Zubair

I'm not sure what you are asking.
I have a template I could copy, but it is for the OEM rack where you drill holes through the roof skin.

Hey,

Sorry...not looking for OEM rack measurements...looking for the aftermarket Thule rack measurments that do not require drilling

Here you go-

I would really recommend the short roof adapter. I tried not using it and the rack is too small to hold a bike rack or roof top container. Also the sunroof won't open unless you have the adapter.

+1 I've read stories of people having the rain gutter bend when not using the adaptor.

The problem you'll have is with the Ski's centered on the rack they will be sticking feet out in front of the windshield and will have a lot of air pushing up on them. If you move them back to get the tips out of the air coming off the windshield they will be bouncing around on the back.

I had the same idea of taking the rack off and on. Getting it on is a major pain. There is a lot of adjusting and readjusting and measuring, tightening sides evenly back and forth. I ended up ditching the rack and putting on a trailer hitch. Now I have basically unlimited options to what I can carry and taking them on and off takes under 60 seconds. You can use a bike rack, trailer, hitch basket they even make hitch ski racks.
