R50/53 my 2003 mini Hatch part out or whole
I'd try selling it whole. Save the R50's! If I had any $ I'd pick it up for a father-son project. My kid is only 8 but he already loves MINIs. By the time we got another CVT swapped in there he'd be ready to start driving.
Or you could do that yourself. Someone on here found rebuilt CVT's for just under 3,000 shipped from a rebuilder in England. Except for the PS pump, the control arm bushings and the OEM thermostat gasket the first generation R50 is a pretty solid little car. 131k isn't all that much on it.

Selling as a whole car you might only get $1000 as a non runner....
Parting it out will get you more $$, for lots more work, and much longer...maybe a year or more...
And being THAT person with a shell of a car sitting.....and you will likly need to pay $$ to have what is left in a year ir so dragged away....and you still need to know how to remove parts, box, and ship them.
Selling it as one part is best for 99% of folks...less hassel.
The engine alone is worth more than the value of the car, but....
Retrogitting the car to a stick is $$, but the value of the car (a bit due to the nature of the conversion) will be a bit less than a regular stick of the same year....and it might be worth LESS than it cost to convert! Comes down to is it woth it too YOU.

Coming from a shop that has parted out over 8 MINI's I would say fix it, or convert it to a manual, or sell it to someone that wants to fix it as a complete car.
The R50 used parts are not as easy to sell as R53 parts as there is just not enough R50 demand.

might help if you posted where the car is located unless of course you have a box large enough to ship it. I would be interested as a whole depending on your location. Please send me pictures and location I can have it shipped within the us.
