So I graduated on Friday when we picked up our brand new 2013 MINI Cooper S Convertible. She is beautiful and everything I'd hope she'd be. She had 4 miles on her when we drove off the lot and now over 600 miles later. Only about 180 of which was with the top up because it was chilly this morning coming home but the rest she was topless... Tried to get my 82 year young mom to ride in her with the top down but once I took a picture I had to put the top up. However, after riding in her, I think she totally changed her mind about what she originally thought. Small, tin can, etc. you can imagine. She was telling everyone how nice it is. Here's a picture of her sitting with the top down.

I know right. She was the only one I was worried about accepting MINI to the family. Why do I need her approval, I'm 52 years old. :0) Just wanted her to like my new ride and she did. Wish she would have let me take her around with the top down.

 

Like you said,why do you need her approval... Just let her in...lock the doors...then top down ....I always felt like boss anytime my friends changed their mind about MINI after a ride in mine!

 

My wife and I were debating about getting a hardtop or a convertible. She was saying,"Well, it just doesn't seem safe with the kids" etc. Pushing hard for the hardtop or the CM.

Once she sat down in the showroom convertible it became, "Well it's not really that big of a deal, I mean the top goes up, the airbags and it has roll bars..."




My MIL was the same way. Didn't know much about the MINI actually, and she's looking for a little fuel efficient car herself but she had doubts about the MINI. Took her to the dealership (I had to go there anyway) and had my MA let her take the convertible out for a spin, and her first words were, "Oh, I could get used to this!"
