R50 Recurring Front Axle Breakage

Hey everyone,

I have a 2006 R50 (Chili Red =] ) and I have an interesting situation.

I bought the car in 2006 as a salvage car with 50k on it. The car had a minor front-end, passenger side accident. No bags popped, and the car needed a headlight, axle, radiator, alternator, and some body parts. The axle I put in was the Chinese aftermarket part.

A few months in, the passenger side axle breaks while making a hard left-turn. We replaced it with another Chinese aftermarket part.

Fast forward to this August-the car is now at 85k. The axle boot is broken, so we go to fix it. We find the axle cracked. Finally annoyed with the aftermarket bit, we go OEM.

Today, the OEM one went when I made a hard left-turn.

Overall, I do not drive the car "hard". By hard, I mean, 90º and at a decent pace.

So just to recap, thats 3 axles in just under 2 years, in about 45k miles.

My father and I both do work on the car...and he seems to think there is no connection, that all the axles were just bad.

I want the opinions of you guys out here. Could this be more than just a bad luck string with axles?

The chineese ones are junk....
One thing....do you know if the car is lowered?
Lowering springs DO put extra stress on the axles.....
