Replacing shift ****

Is there a converter kit or component that will allow me to change my shift **** if I want to use an antique ****?

GEN1 or GEN2? And I assume we're talking a manual tranny.

On a GEN1 you just pull the stock **** up HARD, real hard, and it eventually pops loose, often resulting in the pullee clobbering themself in the head! DO NOT TWIST!

If GEN2 it is a little more complicated because MINI connected the shift gater to the **** - instructions can be found at

Now, how to attach your antique . . . can't help ya there. You'll end up with a smooth shaft with a groove ... no threads ...

Thank you! The diagram you sent is very helpful. Yes Gen 2 mini! I am trying to find out if I buy a new **** thats threaded to screw on....if there is a way to adapt it to be compatible...
