There has been a lot of discussion about the largest sizes of tires that one can safely run on the FS-16 Panasport rims. My dumb question is: Is there any problem running the standard issue 195/55 16 tires on the 7" wide rim.

Thanx

I think for the 7 inch wide rim, the normal or standard width tire is 205 -- which provides for a straight sidewall. Also, you can go at least one size narrower (and more sizes larger as we have seen posted here lately), so that a 195 (one size smaller) would fit OK. I don't know what all the drawbacks are for running smaller and oversized widths, though.

I went to Tire Rack's website and checked out their various wheels in a 16"x 7" configuration. Their default recommendation is 195/55 16s. So I guess that will work fine even though the stock rim is only a 6.5" width.

My assumption is that the Panasport will work with the run flat tire configuration.

You're fine with 195/55/16 or 205/50/16 tires. even 215/45/16 would fit
your 16x7 wheel.
