Aux Jack and Brakes

With an R50 Mini, 2003 Model, can I put in an aux jack? If so, how exactly would I go about doing so? And if I wanted to paint my brake calipers, should I leave them on the car and do it or remove them? I am nervous about overspray big time, I am neurotic about the car. Any effective way to do it without having to do a TON of work? Thanks!

Aux-in depends on the production date of the head unit. It's as simple as pushing a clip into the back of the head unit. Many threads on this.

For the calipers, if you're going to spray them, I'd definitely recommend removing them. Tough to mask effectively in place.

How would I find the date that the head unit was produced?? And thanks for the info on the brakes. I will remove them for sure!

according to the outmotoring product write up only 02 models have the incompat' head unit. However you could try two things

1. read the install instructions to learn where the hole should be and feel around the back of your head unit

2. check with outmotoring on their return policy if it doesn't work

http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...p3_hookup.html

for painting the calibers - many do it in place because the product they buy is a brush on

The date is stamped on the bottom of the unit (or is it the top?) In any case, you'll need to remove the head unit to find out. I can't recall the exact dates, but I think it started being supported after August 2002 builds. Note that in the older units the plug is there, it just won't show 'AUX' on the head unit, nor play from an AUX source.
